A Father's Story

Did you know?

"The Bible is the living Word of God, which is full of energy, like a two-mouthed sword. It will even penetrate to the very core of our being where soul and spirit, bone and marrow meet! It interprets and reveals the true thoughts and secret motives of our hearts."

Hebrews 4:12 TPT

When we first heard this Father's story we learned that for many years he struggled with a chronic sickness. He was unable to eat and had to maintain a liquid diet that had depleted all of his physical strength. As a result, this prevented him from working. Thus he lived with the shame and condemnation of not being able to provide for his family. Sadly, this loving father endured much loss and suffering for a very long time.

But,

As a believer of Christ he held on to God's healing promises as written in the Bible. He never lost hope that one day he would be completely healed of his affliction.

John and I prayed for his healing and boldly declared, in faith, he was already healed by the stripes of Jesús!

For it is written, "He himself carried our sins in his body on the cross so that we would be dead to sin and live for righteousness. Our instant healing flowed from his wounding."

1 Peter 2:24 TPT

"He sent out his word and healed them, snatching them from the door of death. Let them praise the Lord for his great love and for the wonderful things he has done for them."

Psalms 107:20‭-‬21 NLT

These are just a few of God's healing promises that we spoke over his life. I wish I could say it was a miraculous healing! Over the course of the year we repeatedly prayed and spoke life over him.

We believe God's word like a double edged sword, spoken in faith through prayer and the laying on of hands was the seed that began to work in his life and restore all things that had been lost.

After a period of time we saw God's word become alive in his physical body. This faithful father began to, day after day, increase in strength!

Today we can proudly proclaim he is able to eat solid foods. Once again he enjoys eating chicken, tamales, beans and tortillas. All the traditional Guatemalan favorites! He loves to go on long walks with his family and enjoys witnessing to others with the love of Christ.

The best part is he loves being a good father. . .

We encourage you with these final words...

"But we long to see you passionately advance until the end and you find your hope fulfilled. So don’t allow your hearts to grow dull or lose your enthusiasm, but follow the example of those who fully received what God has promised because of their strong faith and patient endurance." Hebrews 6:11‭-‬12 TPT

"If your faith remains strong, even while surrounded by life’s difficulties, you will continue to experience the untold blessings of God! True happiness comes as you pass the test with faith, and receive the victorious crown of life promised to every lover of God!"

James (Jacob) 1:12 TPT

Happy Father's Day,

John and Tanya
